Frequently Asked Questions
What’s different about iU Premier’s offering?
Unlike other youth soccer programs, iU Premier is designed with consistent player development in mind.
We provide a year-round training program that focuses on developing the whole player. (Don’t worry! There are breaks for family holidays, summer vacation, etc.)
Through personal training, regular opportunities for freestyle play & an exciting Spring and Fall competitive season our athletes are welcomed into a community of coaches and trainers that share their love of the beautiful game with excitement and advanced training techniques.
iU Premier requires a 1-year commitment.
What sets ‘iU Premier’ apart?
League games are a key component of player development. Often weekly training doesn’t carry over into gameplay as the focus shifts heavily towards winning/only playing select players.
Our philosophy is different. We don’t believe in winning at all costs - especially when the cost is player development.
League games are an opportunity for ALL players to demonstrate what they’ve learned in training inside of a true game setting. When the pressure is on technical training translates into high-speed play. Ample league game play time provides players a chance to gain confidence when the stakes are high.
What does a year of ‘iU Premier’ provide?
After player placement in the Spring, iU Premier players are enrolled in 6 weeks of personal training in June to increase technical skills. Our pro trainers will also focus on developing the strength and endurance needed for the Fall season ahead.
The Fall and Spring seasons include:
2 practices per week at a local city park
1 weekly ‘pick-up’ freestyle game night
8 games per season (home & away - 1 game per weekend)
Off-season training is provided again over the winter. iU Premier athletes are enrolled in another 6 professionally-led personal training sessions.
Am I required to attend pickup game nights?
YES! Removing the pressure of performance that’s often felt during competitive games, players are invited to play for the sake of the game. Their love of the game gets solidified during these evenings when soccer culture is the focus, club camaraderie is affirmed, and players are welcome to test their skills… all while continuing endurance training in a laid-back, fun environment.
Our trainers are present, but the focus is on having fun with the technical skills they develop during practice and personal training.
What’s included in the iU Premier enrollment fee?
An up-front fee that includes everything you’ll need for the season! Your enrollment fee includes:
iU Premier Full kit jersey (Home/Away uniforms, training uniform, backpack, sweat outfit)
Registration & League fees
Referee fees for regularly scheduled season games
Coaches/Trainer fees
12 sessions of personal training in the off-season (6 in summer + 6 in winter)
Will we play tournaments?
Teams will be directed to attend at least one (1) tournament each season. Our directors and coaches will select the appropriate tournaments for each team. Teams will be responsible for all tournament/travel fees associated with these events.
Tournaments not only provide a pool of competition beyond our local league but also give our teams an opportunity to showcase their progression. Tournaments challenge player endurance with back-to-back games during the weekend.
A tournament is also an opportunity for a team to push to win a championship. Our head coaches will lead with this in mind. All players are put to the test - even as some team members learn to support from the sidelines. Playing time is not guaranteed during tournaments. The goal for our players is to see the culmination of their training and league play efforts put to the test. This is the opportunity for individual contributions to unite towards a victory.
